Town League FAQs

Town League starts Saturday December 14 with evaluations for boys and girls in grades 3-8 (Instructional does NOT start this weekend). See the schedule below.

If you've already registered, THANK YOU! Would you consider forwarding this message to your friends who may have players interested in playing? Also, you may still benefit from some of the questions here. If you haven't already registered, I hope these questions help you out.

Without further ado...

Q. Do I REALLY need to sign up online before Saturday?

A. Pretty much... YES! If you show up without having signed your player up, we'll simply direct you to a computer we'll have set up to sign up then and there. Signing up beforehand will make EVERYBODY'S life easier. It's simple too. Head over to rocklandhoops.com and do it now.

Q. Is there a deadline to register online?

A. No, we’ll keep taking registrations as long as we have space on teams.

Q: My son or daughter can’t attend the evaluations on Saturday, can they still play Town League?

A: YES! Not being able to make evals should never keep somebody from signing up. While we would love to have everybody there, we understand that not everybody can make it Saturday.  We use the evaluations to help us make evenly matched teams. If you register your player for Town League they will be placed on a team.

Q. Do I have to pay online when I sign up?

A. Yes... but No. I know, that doesn't make sense. You can't check out online without paying but if you simply can’t pay online you should still go through the registration process and have your player(s) registration(s) in your shopping cart. When you show up on Saturday, let us know you didn't check out online.

We still STRONGLY encourage you to complete an online registration. Not checking out and paying online should be left for those who just have no way to pay online and need to pay in person on Saturday. Getting your player(s) taken care of ahead of time make your experience better.

Q. I just can’t afford Town League. Will RYB work with me to get my player registered?

A. RYB doesn’t want to see any player left out because of financial difficulty. If you have a real need please still start a registration online and leave the registration in your shopping cart. Talk to us on Saturday if you need to make alternate payment arrangements.

Q. Do you need coaches? Can I help out?

A. YES! Please note that you want to coach when filling out your player’s registration form. If you already registered your player, but want to coach, log back into your rocklandhoops.com account and look for "volunteeropportunities" in your account summary page. Then, let us know Saturday you are interested in coaching when you arrive.

We'll make teams right after evaluations and you'll have a hand in that process. So you'll want to be one hand to see the players at evaluations. Be prepared to attend ALL tryouts (for boys this means being there for two hours) for the league you want to coach and be available after the final group for that league to help draft your team (hopefully this goes quick!). Our goal is to help create teams that are as evenly matched as possible. Enter the "draft" with the right attitude - you're not looking to draft a team that will go undefeated.

 Q. So how does Town League work anyway?

A. After a few weeks of practice it’s all about the games! Each team will have a game against another team of Rockland players each week through Jan, Feb and into March. All teams qualify for the playoffs and then champions will be crowned on Super Saturday at the end of March.

Every player in Town League is guaranteed to play half the game and there are rules in place to help keep the players on the floor as equally matched in talent as possible. Town League is all about fun and we know that it’s no fun for a beginner player to me matched up against the star of the travel team.

Q. When are evaluations again?
